£1.75

by C. S. Smeeton

Description

Between 1970 and 1994, the Society ran a series of Annual Lectures entitled “ The Walter Gratwicke Memorial Lecture”. These lectures were subsequently printed in booklet form and are still available to purchase.

Gratwicke Paper No 17 1986.

After their initial purchase many London tramcars were modernised. Initially this meant just fitting top covers and such like to improve passenger comfort, but later it included more changes to the cars, development of new cars and upgrading the tracks. This book covers the story of how the tramcars developed from the original open top cars to the streamlined Felthams.
